Notonecta obliqua

This species has a preference for acid pools and replaces the more common Notonecta glauca at higher altitudes. It can however be found in lowland non-acidic habitats.

The map is based on records from NBN Gateway, with yellow dots showing pre 1990 records, reds dots 1990 – 2015 records and red on yellow dots overlapping records.

Notonecta obliqua can be easily identified by the light streaks on the clavus and corium on an otherwise black forewing.
