ID support Guides
Most Gerridae, Corixidae and Saldidae are tricky to identify and need the keys and a microscope. However most of the other species are fairly straight forward if approached in the right way with field id, hand-lens, good photograph or checking for specific features. Therefore i have been working on a few additional resources that help with this.
These do not replace the published keys from Southwood & Leston 1959 or Savage 1989. They are designed more to help people get into the group. It is also good to see photographs of them, in family groups, against other similar species and with another perspective on key features.
ID Guide. This is a colour picture guide to all UK species in their family groups (Where i have the photo’s).
